Criminology
This course is designed to explore crime, its context, and especially its causes. First, a foundation will be provided concerning the basic concepts of crime, law, and criminology. Next, theories of crime causation will be explored. The etiology or causes of crime are at the heart of this course, with the theories acting as pillars in the class structure. Next, crime typologies will be examined, or the different kinds of crimes most prevalent in our society. Lastly, we will gain an overview of the criminal justice system itself. The intent of this format is to present a balanced perspective on the field of criminology for new students to the discipline. Attention will also be directed to assure inclusion of issues concerning race, gender, and class, which are often overlooked.
Criminal investigation
This course covers the fundamental principles and procedures employed in the investigation of a crime. Emphasis is placed on the investigation of specific crimes, the identification of sources of information and the procedures necessary for the proper handling of evidence. This course is designed to develop a working knowledge of the steps of investigation beginning with the initial security of the crime scene and concluding with the presentation of evidence and proper testimony in court.

Introduction to Social Work
This is an introductory course mainly designed for the students in the field of sociology and social work, aiming to load the students with fundamental background, concepts, theories, methods and future trend of social work as a helping profession in a changing social context. The four-credit course will be mainly taught through lectures, group discussions, case analysis and student-oriented learning activities. In the process of classroom teaching, the lecturer will spend majority of time on introducing the history of social work profession, social welfare institution, values and ethics of social work, human behaviors and social environment, social work theories, social work methods and leading the students to deepen their understanding the ethics, skills and knowledge base of social work profession. More important, this course will also highlight the significance of developing social work profession in China.

Criminal Law: General Theory
This course focuses on explaining the knowledge of the general part of criminal law and clarifying the norm of criminal law. In this course, the professor will systematically narrate some basic theoretical issues of the criminal law of our county, especially the latest research achievement, as well as some theoretical knowledge and latest trends of criminal law. This course will also allow students to discuss some cases and practical questions to have a better understanding of criminal law.

Specific Provisions of Criminal Law
This course mainly focuses on the traditional crimes, the economic crimes and the job-related crimes, including crimes of endangering national security in Chapter I, crimes of endangering public security in Chapter II, crimes of infringing upon citizen's right of the person and democratic rights in Chapter IV, crimes of property violation in Chapter V and crimes of obstructing the administration of public order in Chapter VI. This course mainly covers and explores the concept of specific cirmes, the protection of legal rights, the special constitutive elements of crime, the solution to puzzling cases and controversial issues, the regulations in legislative interpretation, the content of judicial interpretation, and the criminal liablity of important crimes. This course lays emphasis on developing students' ability of legal thinking and solving knotty cases.
General Psychology
This lecture course – INTRODUCTORY PSYCHOLOGY is designed to present students with a general knowledge of Psychology, including its definition, research methods, and main research domains: i.e., sensation and perception, learning, memory, language and thought, consciousness, intelligence, personality, emotion, motivation, psychological disorders and intervention, social cognition, interpersonal processes, and other topics will be discussed in this lecture. The course is accessible to all the undergraduates except the Psychology majors, who will be admitted to specific curriculum. Therefore, the professor and teaching assistants will concentrate on introducing full-range while elementary phenomena and researches, instead of investigating selected domains or topics in depth. In the end of the semester, students are expected to acquire an understanding of primary concepts, theories and methodologies in general psychology. Moreover, the interest developed in this course may lead students to apply the psychological theories to daily life and get prepared for advanced courses.
