水产类专业主要可以分为水产养殖学与海洋渔业科学与技术两个专业。其中水产养殖学有三个专业方向,分别是淡水渔业、海水养殖、水产养殖与病害防治;海洋渔业科学主要研究海洋渔业、渔业资源与渔政管理的发展规律及特点。

Genetics and Breeding in Aquaculture includes two related parts, genetics and breeding. Genetics deals with heredity and variation, especially the mechanisms of hereditary transmission and the variation of inherited characteristics among similar or related organisms. Breeding is genetic improvement technology, including gynogeneisis, hybridization breeding, selection breeding, polyploid breeding, sex control and genetic engineering, etc.
Aquatic Environmental Chemistry is an important branch of Environmental Chemistry, and it mainly focuses on formation, distribution and cycling procedures of various elements, compounds (natural and anthropogenic), as well as the relationships with other environmental media, clearly reflecting multi-discipline of geo-science and chemistry. The earth aquatic environment mainly includes territorial water body and seawater body, characterized by close association and significant difference. Since global industrialization, the influences from human activities have been far stronger than those from most natural procedures, and aquatic environment has been an extremely important receiver for large amounts of various pollutants emitted. It plays a critical role in controlling transport, transform, fate, as well as related biological and ecological effects (such as deformation, carcinogenicity and mutagenicity) at different spatial and temporal scales.
Microbiology is an introductory course dealing with bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other microorganisms. The contents will cover microbial morphology, reproduction, nutrition, growth, metabolism, genetics, mutation, pathogenicity, immune response, and practical application in industry and agriculture.
Biochemistry describes the chemical processes and mechanisms shared by all living organisms. The properties of amino acids; the structure and function of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids and carbohydrates; the kinetics and catalytic mechanisms of enzymes; the functions of vitamin, co-enzyme and hormone; transmembrane transportation; glycolysis; citric acid cycle; TCA cycle; electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation; glycogen metabolism; fat acids metabolism and amino acids metabolism are included in this course.
