The state of São Paulo covers over 200,000 km2 and is located in the south-eastern region of Brazil, with the city of São Paulo as its capital. USP has campuses in eight cities of the state: Bauru, Lorena, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, São Carlos, Santos and São Paulo.

USP does not have dormitories for foreign exchange students. However, the International Office has created the Homestay Programme, which consists of a list of family homes, student boarding houses, hotels and hostels in the city of Sao Paulo.

The huge USP Centre for Sports offers a wide variety of events and activities are offered to all students.
